What's the difference?

Jelly

Jelly is made using the juice of the fruit, no pulp, or bits of fruit.  Fruit pectin (Vegan), sugar, and citric acid are added.

Jam

Jam is made with the juice of the fruit and crushed bits of the fruit.  Fruit pectin (Vegan), sugar, citric acid and if needed for that particular flavor, herbs, natural flavorings and or spices.

Fruit Butter

Fruit butter is made by boiling down fruit pulp, adding a small amount of sugar, depending on how sweet the fruit is; along with spices and natural flavorings depending on the variety.

Marmalade

Marmalade is made with citrus fruit juice and pulp.  It also has the peel of the fruit added to the mixture.  Fruit pectin (Vegan) is added, sugar, lemon juice, citric acid and if needed for that particular flavor natural flavorings and or spices.

Conserve

Conserve is made just like a jam with the addition of nuts.   Generally walnuts, pecans or almonds.  These were very popular in Victorian times.

Chutney

Chutney is a sweet, spicy and savory condiment.  Made with a combination of fruits, onions, spices, vinegar and sugar.  Great served with curried dishes, along side pork or chicken, or served with a cured meat and cheese platter.

The When & How We Pick Our Fruit

How do we know when to pick our fruit so it is perfectly sweet and ripe for you to enjoy?   We measure the "brix " with a refractometer!  Brix is the sugar content of a liquid, so there is no guessing if our fruit is at the optimum level of sweetness for our customers.
